This is a commission for a good friend of mine. She is pregnant with a girl.... Being a rock chick / horror fan I made her this blanket, for the baby.
Yes it is a spin on Andy Warhol - why I came to this design I don't know.. Warhol is far from my favourite pop artists. I guess the the pop art surrealist movement got my inspirational juices going. Anyhoo - it beats the standard cute bears in baby pinks, whites and blues. Materials - 3.5mm crochet hook. 200g bright pink acrylic yarn, 200g black acrylic yarn, 50g turquoise acrylic yarn. Each square is 75 stiches by 75 rows. Comments
Thank you. It took a bit longer than it should have to make it. I was designing it as I went, which meant experimenting with different colour variations. The total completion plus design process took 2 months - that wasn't solid just working on this project though.
I hope she will like it too... the baby is due in September. Yeah pop art is the way to go at the moment. Its making a huge come back. Really cool. If I ever have a child I want a blanket like this for him/her. You've been featured in my journal.
-- 'I demand the right to be Uniq' I'm part of Project Reciprocation Hey! You have devaintart account! How cool is that.
Thank you so much about the blanket. I was really hoping you would like it. I gather Sharron hasn't brought it over yet. My mother-in law is desperate to hear whether you like it or not.... and everyone else has complimented me on my workmanship but not on the subject. You bought Lily Ramones baby-gro! She is heading for super cool at the speed of knots. I now have to think about x-mas prezzies! How am I going to top this? xxxx -- What are you reading? See me at my website [link]"Tonya Andreovich |
